Ripped From the Headlines

This article comes from the Local Bradenton Herald Newspaper week ending 2/8/2014.
Everyone trusts a sanctuary but because it is a sanctuary. I have a white rabbit in my care that was dumped anonymously at a sanctuary. This is information just to make sure you know what a sanctuary is and what it is supposed to do. It is supposed to be a safe haven for animals. Not a wild place, not a place to fend for itself, not a place to be considered food for the more mighty of predators out there. The rabbit I found would have been food for the fox that inhabit the reserve or for some tougher animal. I called the animal control and told them I had found it. To my surprise I was told how lucky of me, I now had a new pet. This is the kind of thing you need to be aware of, not everyone cares about your pet after you let them go. Do your homework, research and for God’s sake! Check the centers out on slow days when no one is expecting to see people. Beware of ‘sanctuaries’ with no open door policy. There is always a reason they won’t open those doors! This article can be researched on line or in the newspaper. It’s true, it actually happened.

This is a sensitive issue and no one likes to see or hear about an animal being abused in any form. We try to provide our readers with things that will spark and emotion of caring some way to enlighten and educate and entertain on the treatment of animals great or small. Thank you for reading.
