WOBBLY DUCK CABIN RENTALS
Have you ever just wanted to get away
with the dogs and cats!
I have just the place for you and your family of four legged kids! Head down for a respite like no other. Out on the Osage River near Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri sits a retreat owned by Jon and Rhonda Chevalier called the Wobbly Duck. Nestled in the hills of Missouri, like a fairy tale are four little cabins with all the comforts of home. (The one missing is the one that Jon and Rhonda are actually living in right now!) Each cabin has its own washer and dryers, refrigerators, over stuffed couches and chairs, fireplaces, and the most comfortable beds in the world. The boat dock is right across the street! The cabins can facilitate more than one family if needed but ideally up to a family of 5 or 6 with no limits to how many pets you can bring along. There’s plenty of walking area for your pets and the dogs can swim in the river with you when the weather is warm and go in the boats if you feel like fishing. Fishing holes abound and there’s even a play ground with great pavilions big enough for a family reunion!
It’s quiet, the skies are clear most nights and the stars shine so brightly you could wish on many a falling star. You can go to sleep by the sound of the rushing waters of the Osage River. If you look up in the daytime you might even be caught off guard by the sight of flying eagles or any number of wild birds native to that part of Missouri. There will be raccoon, opossum, squirrels and many other wild life. The most fascinating wild life you will see are the quail, rabbits, turkeys, chickens and roosters that live at Wobbly Duck on a regular basis. Mornings can mean fresh eggs from the hens a menu of delights. Each cabin has its own coffee pot with fresh ground Starbuck coffee.
Dinners are a true delight! Jon “Chevy” Chevalier is a master chef with years of experience in the hospitality industry. Tell him what you would like to eat for meals and your wish is his command. Keep in mind that if your furry family member is on a special diet, Chevy will be glad to serve it up. No request is out of the question from rice and lamb to veggies. Expect fresh fruit in your cabin daily. Meals for you can be exotic or domestic American cuisine. “Chevy” and Rhonda believe in old school gardening, you will enjoy all the fruits of their labor from fresh vegetables out of their organic gardens fertilized with organic fertilizers when it’s in season. No chemicals are used in the growing of natural produce on their property! Dinners and lunches are served to the door of the cabin or in the Community Hall complete with an antique Whirlitzer Jukebox and a big screen television. Dance to the music or play cards, have a family meal or cocktails indoors or out but relax and have fun no matter what your choice.
Jon “Chevy” and Rhonda will give you the tour and tell you all about the area. Visit the local Miller County Museum or drive 20 minutes south to the dam and fish hatcheries. Locals stop by daily to meet guests and share stories, legends and lies! Find out where the best fishing and hunting places are or just take long walks along the river. What ever makes you happy and calm awaits you in this home away from home. Rentals start at $105 a night with no pet deposits. When you travel, you wouldn’t leave your children behind and you don’t have to leave your pets behind either. There are NO LIMITS to the number of children or pets. Everyone is welcome. Keep watching this blog for more updates and photos as the resort grows as more additions to the resort are coming. This is a beautiful work in progress and having had the privilege of staying in Cabin #1 which used to be an old ‘general store’, I can tell you I can’t wait to see what’s in store. More land is in the future for building more cabins and more organic gardens! They intend to add to their livestock as well. There is talk of actual dog runs, petting zoo and exotic fruit trees!
